Young people will gather in Washington, D.C. on July 21 to march on the National Mall to demand that our country’s lawmakers take immediate and drastic action to fight climate change.
Of course, we’ll have to get the majority of them to admit that climate change is real in the first place, but that’s besides the point.
The march will be preceded by a day of lobbying on July 19 during which protesters will go to Capitol Hill to deliver a list of demands to both our country’s leaders as well as to the public.
There will also be a day of art builds on July 20 to celebrate the movement and our environment through public art.
The march comes as the earth’s atmospheric carbon dioxide levels averaged at or above 410 parts per million throughout the month of April for the first time in human history, as the president cuts funding for NASA’s carbon monitoring system, and as the planet experiences its 400th straight warmer-than-average month.
