A package in the town of Beaumont, Texas exploded on the steps of an Episcopalian Church this week after another explosive package was found at a local Starbucks last month.
The package detonated sometime between Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning before the church’s rector arrived and saw the damage. On April 26, a suspicious package was discovered by a Starbucks employee in the same town.
The employee was attempting to open the package when they discovered a note which prompted the employee to take the package back outside and call the police.
The contents of the note have not been released.
Authorities responded to the call and confirmed that the package was indeed an explosive device and transferred it to bomb technicians who successfully disabled the device.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the blast and it caused only minor damage to the building.
